Here is what I learned today:

Two new ideas I learned today:
1. Women were not considered citizens of Rome. Only adult free men were citizens. Women were not allowed to drink wine. Their husbands would kiss their lips to find out if they have had wine. If he tasted any, she usually received a beating!
2. Roman children would come home from school and play with toys- dolls, wooden swords. They played tic tac toe and knucklebones. Knucklebones was like jacks but with real bones. The boys played war games with wooden swords. They played "Troy" where a whole pack of kids, outnumbering one child, would try to drag him across a designated line. Girls would play boardgames, lift weights and play with dolls.
Navigational strategy:
The site was very simple so I only used the back button and I clicked on links at the bottom of the page for more indepth study.
One reliable source:
http://rome.mrdonn.org/index.html I found their published book for sale on an educational website. Their site has been recognized by different organizations- BBC, History Channel, Yahoo, and many other educational websites.
Informational feature:
This site is very easy for fourth graders to use. The pages are clear and simple, making it easy to find the links one is looking for. There are many links for further study. This site covers many social studies areas as well as language arts.
